I've been regularly attending the class at Alexandra Park Judo Club
for the past five months and believe that this experience has had a positive
effect on my judo technique, confidence and level of fitness. It's also a
friendly place and great fun! I find that the structure of the class
strikes the right balance between tuition and practice, but without being
too rigid, as it tends to vary slightly from one week to the next. Ability
and age are wide-ranging at the club, but it is always very inclusive with
everyone mixing in and helping each other along. The Sensei (coaches) are
clear in their instruction and demonstration, and whilst they will usually
spot and correct any poor technique, it's not all "red pen" - they will
equally give praise where it's due for good effort and improvement, and this
can be highly motivating. So, if you're toying with the idea of starting up
judo for the first time, or even getting back into it after a long break (as
I was), then I recommend that you "toy" no longer and just come along to a
Saturday morning class and give it a try. You'll then wonder why you hadn't
done so sooner. I know I did!

I have been doing Judo at Alexandra Park Judo club for five months. I like
Judo it is really fun. I have learnt a lot about history and etiquette. I am
best at ground work especially my kesa-gatame. One day I believe I can be a
black belt like Raki and Stuart.

I like judo because it gives me lots of excercise and helps me get healthy. I have learnt a lot in the 6 years that I have been doing judo and since I joined lots of other people have joined. I have learnt a lot of things as well the things you do in judi. I have learnt who the founder of judo was and what judo means - the gentle way. My sensei's are very good at what they do and teach very well.

Yasmin has been at the club for about 18 months and during that time I have seen a great improvement in her confidence, concentration and her willingness to join in with pyhsical activities. I believe every child should try judo!
